The City of Portland, Maine Police Department is hiring Emergency Telecommunications Operators (911 dispatchers) to answer and dispatch calls for Portland, South Portland, and Cape Elizabeth. This communications center runs 24/7 on 8, 10, or 12-hour shifts, including holidays and weekends.
Pay starts at $27.79/hour, rising to $29.59/hour after six months and $30.63/hour after one year. A $10,000 sign-on bonus is available with a five-year commitment.
New hires must obtain Maine Emergency Medical Dispatch and Emergency Fire Dispatch certifications within six months of hire. Employment is contingent on a successful background check.
